The most common myths about the world of gasoline from a vehicle

Around the issue of gasoline there are many myths. If you miss a regular gasoline engine that requires premium gasoline, this is damage? Does using additives is good or bad? Is it better throwing gasoline into a car in the morning or just when the service station is being fueled?

These questions and answer them in the following article:

Myth # 1:  The additives increase gasoline octane: False

Additives that you miss in your car do not increase the octane (octane level) of gasoline that you put in your car; hence the quality of petrol will not change if you are using this type of aid.

Additives may perform other functions how to clean the injectors of the engine and avoid the jingle of the car, but not because of increasing gasoline octane, but retarding combustion of the mixture.

Remember to use additives in excess can damage the engine by increasing the level of sediment glued to the carriage motor.

Myth # 2: It is better to put gas in the car in the morning or when temperatures are cooler: True

Gasoline is denser and better composition in the mornings and evenings, just when the ambient temperature is at its lowest level. On the contrary, to put gas in the hottest hours of the day, gasoline expands and therefore has greater presence of bubbles.

Myth # 3: Increasing speed and making accelerations and sudden braking, more fuel is spent: True

By increasing the driving speed and making accelerations and sudden braking will spend more fuel than necessary because you will be over-revolutionizing the engine at maximum capacity. To save fuel we advise you to drive your vehicle with a slow and steady style.

Myth # 4: is better put gas in the car at the time that the service station is being fueled: False

For more filters that tell the service station, gasoline inevitably start right in the moment when the service station is being fueled with sediments or soils result. Avoid putting fuel in that moment.

Myth # 5: If my car is old, spend more petrol: False

If the car does not leak or damage to their systems and filters, need not spend more petrol than a new car. Check your car regularly to check its correct functioning in skilled services.

Myth # 6: If an engine manufactured using premium gasoline is put current precipitate damage engine parts: True

This common practice in Colombia (due to high gas prices) does generate premature wear of engine parts to a phenomenon called flame front, which happens when the engine is put less gas than can be presented compressed (compression ratio) . Find out the owner of a vehicle which is the proper fuel for your vehicle manual.

Myth # 7: If I spend the gas to the limit of the reserve tank, the engine will be damaged: True

If you let the fuel level you down to the maximum limit before returning to put gas in the car, this sucked air bubbles and sediment from the tank bottom and eventually damages the fuel pump. Do not wait until the tank is at its lowest for gas, keep in medium term limit.
