Suspension

It is the main component of the vehicle suspension, and its main functions are:

  • To achieve maximum adhesion between tire and road.
  • Prevent the transmission of vibrations.
  • Provide comfort to the occupants.

Manufacturers make several guest shocks, depending on their position:

  • Front: Left Front and Right Front
  • Rear: Left Rear and Right Rear
  • Gate
  • Spheres Hanging (Citroen vehicles)

By type of compression chamber:

  • Or Standard Oil, provides a relatively soft suspension suitable for a conventional line (family car). They are currently in disuse for its duration.
  • Gas provides a stiff suspension, increased stability. Used by all vehicle ranges.
  • Reinforced are similar in characteristics to those classified as gas, and particularly pointing to the ranges of Vehicle Break.

How often should I check the suspension?

The suspension system, “cushions “have a decisive influence on the braking system, steering and vehicle stability, so your review is recommended every 20,000 km.

When should I replace the shocks?

  • When oil leaks are suffering.
  • Irregular tire wear
  • Perception of vibration in the tires when accelerating.
  • Tilt on the front of the vehicle when braking.
  • Moving the vehicle was in the driveway contouring.
  • When braking distance increases.
  • If it exceeds 50,000 Km

Advice

  • When the buffers are replaced, the vehicle must be aligned again in order to prevent other mechanical parts to wear abnormally.
  • Dampers should always be changed in pairs on each axis to ensure the balance of your car.
  • In no case should be mounted dampers of different brands or types on the same axle.
